Kolkata Knight Riders cut a cheque of Rs 5 crore for New Zealand pacer Trent Boult at the IPL Auctions on Monday. The first thing the Kiwi bowler bought was coffee for his teammate Tim Southee because that's what overnight millionaires do.

According to a report on ESPNCricinfo, Boult will be playing in the IPL for experience and not the big, fat paycheck. " I'm not going for the money. The experience of playing there in front of thousands of people is the most exciting part. I'm looking forward to rubbing shoulders with a few more international players and growing my game," said the left-arm pacer.

Boult played just one game for Sunrisers Hyderabad during last season of IPL. He felt frustrated because he missed out on an opportunity due to the four overseas players rule of the tournament. He told the website that this time he is looking forward to exhibiting his best for Kolkata Knight Riders. He said that he has improved his game and is more confident than before with the white ball.

Talking about how he felt watching the bids being put forward for him at the auction, the Kiwi player said that it was a surreal experience.

"We were in a car with a couple of the lads following the Twitter feed. To see the name come through with a figure like that next to it was pretty unbelievable. It's bizarre how that much money can be put on the head of a player to play six or seven weeks," said Boult.
