Ace Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram suffered a major blow as he was crashed out of the Malaysia Open Super Series after going down against fifth-seeded Son Wan Ho of South Korea in their quarter-final clash here on Friday.
The 29-year-old failed to replicate his good performances so far and suffered a 18-21, 14-21 defeat at the hands of Wan Ho in a last-eight clash of the men?s singles event that lasted 37 minutes.
Jayaram had earlier entered the quarter-finals with a hard-fought victory over Denmark's Viktor Axelsen in a men's singles match in Kuching yesterday.
With Jayaram?s defeat, India?s campaign at the tournament has also folded.
On Wednesday, Rio Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu and star shuttler Saina Nehwal made shocking first-round exits from the tournament.
