Dhawan smashes, half-century before bowers strike against Sri Lanka

Shikhar Dhawan smashed his maiden T20 International fifty to fire India to 196/6 in the second game against Sri Lanka. Dhawan (51 of 25) stood out in India's run feast with the other notable performance coming from his opening partner Rohit Sharma (43 off 36), Hardik Pandya (27 off 12) and Suresh Raina (30 off 19). The visitors pulled things back in the penultimate over with pacer Thisara Perera (3/33) picking up a hat-trick, the fourth ever in T20 Internationals and first by a Sri Lankan. Man Utd won't talk to Mou without telling me: Louis Van Gaal

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said it is unlikely that the club have spoken to Jose Mourinho about replacing him. Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea in December, has been heavily tipped to take over from Van Gaal by British media in recent weeks but the Dutch coach said he had heard nothing of the sort from United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the Old Trafford board. "I can only say that I have spoken with Ed Woodward and I cannot imagine that they have spoken with each other. Pak umpire Asad Rauf banned for five years

Tainted Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf was banned for five years by the BCCI on Friday after its disciplinary committee found him guilty of corrupt practices and bringing the game into disrepute. The 59-year-old Rauf, who was part of the ICC's elite panel and officiated in Test matches, was accused of accepting expensive gifts from bookies besides placing bets on IPL matches in the 2013 edition.  (Read more...)

India produced a disappointing performance to lose to arch-rivals Pakistan 0-1 in a lacklustre summit clash of men's hockey at the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati on Friday. Awaisur Rehman scored the lone goal of the match in added time of the first half as Pakistan clinched the gold medal and notched up a hat-trick of titles in the South Asian Games. Danny Welbeck fit for Leicester clash

Striker Danny Welbeck could make the Arsenal squad for the first time this season against Leicester City on Sunday, but manager Arsene Wenger hinted on Friday that defender Per Mertesacker would not start against the league leaders. Welbeck has been sidelined since April with a knee injury while Mertesacker last played for the Gunners in the 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Jan. 24.
