BCCI to introduce contract system for Indian women cricketers

According to a media release issued by BCCI, the Women's Cricket Committee met on Sunday and made the following recommendations to the Working Committee: "On the lines of Men's cricket, a Contract system for international Women cricketers was proposed. It was also proposed to have more international fixtures for the Indian Women's cricket team," BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur was quoted as saying in a press release.

The BCCI on Sunday officially announced that India's international women's cricketers will be brought under the ambit of gradation payment like their male counterparts as it was discussed at the recently held finance committee meeting in Delhi.

According to a media release issued by BCCI, the Women's Cricket Committee met on Sunday and made the following recommendations to the Working Committee: "On the lines of Men's cricket, a Contract system for international Women cricketers was proposed.

It was also proposed to have more international fixtures for the Indian Women's cricket team," BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur was quoted as saying in a press release.

"The Committee recommended adding two more tournaments to give more exposure and opportunities to women cricketers at the domestic level. The Committee proposed to start an under-16 state level tournament within the zones. It also proposed to start an under-23 tournament," the release further stated. However the format for women's under-19 tournament and the senior women's tournament will remain unchanged.
