5 best Jose Mourinho quotes of all time
Jose Mourinho

Over the years, Jose Mourinho has enlivened our lives with extremely amusing quotes and jibes. The cheeky Portuguese doesn't think twice before taking pot-shots at his rivals and anyone who displeases him, irrespective of their standing in the game. Here are his top 5 quotes:

Quote 1: On Rafa's diet

The latest to bear the brunt of Jose Mourinho's sharp tongue was Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez and his wife. Recently, Rafael Benitez's wife had claimed jokingly that her husband was always tidying up Jose's mess (Rafa had managed three clubs after Jose).

Upon being relayed this information, the Portuguese replied: "The lady is a bit confused. Her husband went to Chelsea to replace Roberto Di Matteo and he went to Real Madrid and replaced Carlo Ancelotti. The only club where her husband replaced me was at Inter Milan, where in six months he destroyed the best team in Europe at the time.” He went on to say: ““I think the lady needs to occupy her time and if she takes care of her husband’s diet she will have less time to speak about me.”

 Quote 2: Wenger the Voyeur

Other than Rafa, one manager Jose never got on with it was Arsene Wenger. While one could fill up a page with things Mourinho has said Wenger, the top quote came in 2005 when he accused Wenger of being a voyeur. He had said: "I think he is one of these people who is a voyeur. He likes to watch other people. There are some guys who, when they are at home, have a big telescope to see what happens in other families. He speaks, speaks, speaks about Chelsea."

Quote 3: Call me The Special One

One of Jose Mourinho's greatest quotest came when he introduced himself to the British media fresh after winning the UEFA Champions League in 2004 with FC Porto. He had said: “We have top players and, sorry if I'm arrogant, we have a top manager. I'm not a defender of old or new football managers. I believe in good ones and bad ones, those that achieve success and those that don't. “Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one. If I wanted to have an easy job...I would have stayed at Porto - beautiful blue chair, the Uefa Champions League trophy, God, and after God, me.

Quote 4: The Egg-Omelette Conundrum (Or How to develop young players)

There are a lot of different metaphors that can be used to describe young players, only Jose "Omelettes, eggs. No eggs, no omelettes. And it depends on the quality of the eggs in the supermarket. They are class one, two or three and some are more expensive than others and some give you better omelettes. When the class one eggs are not available you have a problem."

Quote 5: When asked what God thought of him

“He must really think I’m a great guy. He must think that, because otherwise He would not have given me so much. I have a great family. I work in a place where I’ve always dreamt of working. He has helped me out so much that He must have a very high opinion of me.

And finally, here's a parody video based on The Clash's Should I Stay or Should I Go? in which Jose Mourinho is mockingly asking ex-Manchester United manager, David Moyes AKA The Chosen One to sell him Wayne Rooney.
