A new game in Nintendo's "Legend of Zelda" series will inform the company's entire presence at the Electronic Entertainment Show on June 14.

Titled "The Legend of Zelda," just as the franchise debut was in 1986, this new game is being developed for the company's current console, the Nintendo Wii U, as well as its successor, March 2017's Nintendo NX.

It's been a long time since a brand new "Zelda" game was released for home consoles -- the Wii U's two remakes not included -- and this brand new entry to the "Zelda" franchise of action adventure games could be leading the NX's charge.

And 2016's edition of Nintendo Treehouse: Live, its now-customary broadcast from the E3 show floor, will be "dedicated to a day of live-streamed gameplay of 'The Legend of Zelda,'" Nintendo has announced.

"This will be the world's first in-depth look at the game, which will also include commentaries by Nintendo developers," the firm says of a stream which will include "game coverage, behind-the-scenes info and plenty of fun."

Nintendo may end up looking to other avenues in order to get the word out about its slate for the remainder of 2016 and the start of 2017, though the Wii U's release calendar is not exactly crammed.

Instead, it's the handheld 3DS that has the more promising titles: "Pokémon Sun" and "Pokémon Moon," plus North American and European versions of two "Dragon Quest" remakes and "Monster Hunter Generations," and two more games in the "Kirby" and "Super Metroid" series are due before 2016's end.

And though Nintendo has said its new console will not be revealed at E3, with a formal reveal set for later in the year, an all-day focus on the cross-platform Wii U and NX title "The Legend of Zelda" may mean that new features are hinted at.

E3's "Legend of Zelda" show will be streamed from the E3 show floor via Nintendo's channels on YouTube, Twitch, and on Nintendo's E3 official website.
