Italian chocolate maker Ferrero is known for its quality products and it should not worry if its competitor Bauli sets up an unit at Baramati in Maharashtra, NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar said today.

"Recently, Ferrero was unhappy because another Italian company Bauli wants to set up an unit for bakery products.

There can be competition. I am absolutely sure about the quality of Ferrero products, they need not worry," Pawar said at an event organised to celebrate the company's 10 years presence in India.

Ferrero has a manufacturing plant in Baramati, which is Pawar's Lok Sabha Constituency. The company exports 50 per cent from here.

Pawar, former Union Agriculture Minister, shared how milk and food processing got a fillip with the entry of Ferrero.

Now, total eight big Italian companies have set up units in Baramati, providing employment to 9,000-10,000 people and out of which 40 per cent are women, he added.

"Local situation in Baramati has substantially improved because of close association of Italian companies," he said, adding that Ferrero has done a remarkable job as it is taking lot of interest in rural development.

Pawar also released 7th edition of Ferrero's global CSR report at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Ferrero India Managing Director Roberto Grasso said the company has invested Rs 8.8 crore for setting up a roof-top solar project in Maharashtra.

Member of Parliament Supriya Sule as well as Ambassador of Italy Lorenzo Angeloni were present at the event.
