Tambe shows his large at last, sanctions Rs58 cr

As his last meeting as PMC standing committee chairman, focuses on road and water department

In his last meeting as the standing committee chairman of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Vishal Tambe on Tuesday sanctioned 65 proposals for the works like garbage, road, health and education worth Rs58 crore at one go.
The elected members across the party line rushed to submit their proposals, as the meeting is also supposed to be the last meeting before the code conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The maximum number of proposals were related to road department, which were followed by the proposal for water and sewage projects. Rs45.26 crore of Rs58.52 crore will be spent for these departments.
Briefing media persons after the four-hour long meeting, Tambe said that there are works related to roads department worth Rs33 crores. Water supply and sewage treatment related works will cost Rs5.26 crore.
"Five proposals for solid waste management worth Rs2.50 crore and two proposals health worth Rs1.50 crore along with eight Bhavan department works worth Rs4.78 crore has been sanctioned in the meeting meeting," said Tambe.
The Standing Committee sanctioned the repair works of Nehru Stadium except for the seating arrangement there. It also cleared Rs6 crore to provide for difference towards the sixth pay commission for the police force. The demands from Uruli village are immediately sanctioned by the PMC since the garbage issue is still burning. The standing committee on Tuesday sanctioned Rs79 lakh for road-related work for Uruli village.
