Speaking on his experience at the site of disaster, NDRF jawan Kiran Gangale, who hails from Talegaon and works with the team in Mumbai headquarters, said that even though he was used to such sights, wailing of relatives moved him.
He said, "We are at work from 11am since Wednesday. Still a lot of work to do as the main hurdle in the rescue operation is the mud still the situation is much better than Uttrakhand where I had worked last year. We are working in 3 shifts everyday. There are around 700 NDRF jawans working for various departments out of which 360 are actually working in the rescue team. We have to be stationed here for 2-3 more days and we are ready for that too. Apart from our duty I think we should do it as humanity also."
So is his experience in the hill area challenging than the usual operations he carry out?

"As I have worked in the rescue operation for the Uttrakhand tragedy, the severity seems less here. But these disasters should not be compared as any small or big loss is valuable for any person. The geographical local of Malin is a factor of our concern hence we are getting new instructions from our seniors every hour. Spectators coming here just to see the landslide sight was an issue for us on first day operations but later the situation got better as the cops controlled the situation and no one was allowed up here," he said.
"We are used to see scattered bodies and handicapped people while rescuing them out of collapsed buildings and such areas. We have to keep our emotions aside while getting these people and dead bodies out of the debris. But what touched me here, was the loud cry of these poor families when they saw a dead body coming out of the spot of their house, fearing that it is of their near one!" and Gangale rushed from his break to continue his duty.
