A 27-year-old woman was stabbed to death, supposedly by a former lover, on Andheri station foot-over-bridge at around 10.30 pm on Wednesday. A passer-by witnessed the incident, nabbed the youth and turned him over to the D N Nagar police.

Ana Bibi Shaikh was walking on the west side of the public bridge when the youth approached her and stabbed her several times with a sharp weapon. Police say, prima facie, the attack seems to have been incited by a soured love affair.

Shaikh was rushed to a private hospital nearby, but declared dead before admission. She is believed to be employed with a bar. "The body has been sent for post mortem," said a police officer.

Deputy Police Commissioner Paramjit Singh Dahiya said, "We will register the case under IPC section 302 (Murder) and the man will be arrested formally. We are investigating whether one more person is involved."
