A Kandivli car dealer, who happens to be a witness in a case of criminal breach of trust, has alleged that the Kandivli police hauled him to the police station, kept him there was for eight hours and threatened to implicate him in a false case. They then allegedly made him sign blank papers for restatement in the case, which has been stayed by the Vasai sessions court.

Sachin Dhumal, 29, a resident of Charkop in Kandivli, was brought to the police station by the cops who wanted to take his restatement in the case. He said he explained to the cops that the court has given a stay order in the case, but they decided to harass him any way.

"I was forcefully brought to the police station despite the court stay. If I am a witness, they should not have harassed me by threatening to implicate me in a false case, and later making me wait for more than eight hours, as they continued to pressurise me to sign blank papers," said Sachin Dhumal, witness.

"After I informed the advocate about the incident, he came to the police station and explained the situation to the cops, who then backtracked and tore off the statement and made a station diary entry. But the point is that despite knowing about the court order, they committed contempt of court," said Dhumal.

"We had not received the order and we have made an entry in the station diary about this. The allegations of the dealer are baseless. We are investigating this further," said a senior official from Tulinj police station.
