Replying a starred question by many members, including former ministers Varsha Gaikwad, Shashikant Shinde, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, Prashant Bamb, Monika Rajale, Baburao Pacharne, Sangram Thopte, Amin Patel, Aslam Shaikh and others, Lonikar informed that there are 2,496 non-functional water supply schemes in the state. He announced that he would get rid of village water management committees where political appointments and partisan approach were creating disputes.

Bamb questioned whether the minister would inquire into the corruption allegation in these schemes, while MLA Gulabrao Patil demanded an inquiry into all the revised estimates of the corruption-tainted schemes. Patil pointed out that despite providing information about revised estimates to the chief executive officers of the zilla parishads concerned, action was not taken. Both Bamb and Patil demanded stern action against all those involved.

Lonikar assured the House that no one would be spared if found involved in any kind of corruption in the water supply schemes.
