Two Rajan gang members held for murdering

The city crime branch sleuths have arrested two persons, who have an association with Chhota Rajan gang for allegedly murdering a Navi Mumbai-based man earlier this month. The duo has past criminal records.
The arrested have been identified as Umesh Jaunjal and Mukesh alias Bacchi alias Karan Singh.

According to joint commissioner of police (crime), Sadanand Date, on July 21, one Ankush Mhaskar was attacked with a chopper and iron rod in Kamothe area of Navi Mumbai. Mhaskar had succumbed to his injuries. A case was registered by the Kamothe police station.

Senior inspector Arvind Sawant and assistant inspector Dattatray Masvekar, had received specific information that Mhaskar was murdered by Rajan gang members Jaunjal and Singh. "The two were planning to leave the city when they were arrested from Dadar on Tuesday. During interrogation, they had confessed of their crime," said Sawant.

Jaunjal was previously arrested by the RCF police in a murder case and Wadala TT police in an assault case. Singh has been earlier arrested by the Mumbai crime branch in an attempt to commit dacoity case.
