Two constables posted with the Dahisar police station have been suspended after an accused allegedly fled from their custody by removing the handcuffs while he was being taken to Madhya Pradesh from Mumbai via train.
The suspended constables have been identified as Sanjay Gangan and Santosh Bandgar.

According to the police, accused Mangusingh alias Mangilal Meena's custody was taken on December 10, 2014, by the Dahisar police from Mandsor prison in Madhya Pradesh on finding out that he was involved in a theft case registered by the Dahisar police.

Meena was arrested and was later remanded in judicial custody by the court on December 15. Constables Gangan and Bandgar were entrusted with the job of taking him back to Mandsor prison. They left the same day on the Golden Temple Express.

"As the train reached Vadodara station around 3am on December 16, Meena managed to get his handcuffs off and flee. The constables searched for him but could not find him. They then informed their seniors and lodged a complaint against Meena at Vadodara railway police station," said an officer from Dahisar police station.

"Gangan and Bandgar did not take due vigilance while ferrying Meena. Hence, they have been suspended pending departmental inquiry."
