The police department have identified 97 spots in Thane and 30 spots at Ulhasnagar

The Thane police department will be keeping a close watch on miscreants on the day of polling through drones in the sensitive areas.
A part from monitoring the city through Close Circuit Television Cameras, the police teams will be armed with video cameras to ensure fair elections.
The Thane Police Commissionerate have identified 97 spots in the Thane city and 30 spots in Ulhasnagar. The Thane Municipal Corporation and Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation polls are scheduled to take place on 21 February. The spots which have been identified by the police are by keeping in mind the crime records, alongwith unrest during campaigning by the candidates and previous records of unrest during polling.
“We have already externed goons and habitual offenders from the jurisdiction to make sure that they do not indulge in creating nuisance during the election period”, said a senior Thane police officer.
“The police force, including the Riot Police force, will be posted in the city for an immediate response to any untoward incident”, said the officer.
Ashutosh Dumbare, Joint Commissioner of Police, Thane, said, “The drones will be monitoring the areas near the polling booths to keep a watch on partyworkers and miscreants who often indulge in creating nuisance.”
“Apart from the drones, our police personnel will also be armed with video cameras in the city”, said Dumbare.
“The sensitive spots which has been identified by the department will be deployed with heavy armed police force and also SRPF companies will be kept on standby to respond for riot like situation”, said Dumbare.
"If anyone is found violating the poll code of conduct, spreading rumours or disturbing the election procedure, they will be strictly dealt with," he added.
