The Sion police on Thursday arrested three women relatives of a patient for allegedly assaulting Mansi Patil, a doctor at the civic-run Sion Hospital late night on Wednesday.

The police had then registered the case against the accused Rizwan Subhan Ali Khan (60), Nashib Banu Mohammad Sami (50) and Zainam Mohammad Salim (30) for the assault.

“They beat up a 28-year-old lady doctor for allegedly not giving proper treatment to a four-year-old girl in the family who was admitted for pneumonia on Wednesday night,” said N Ambika, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 4.

"The child’s mother was not involved in the attack," Ambika added

The accused women have been arrested under section 353 of IPC (assault to deter public servant from discharge of duty), they were produced before a court which sent them to 14 days of judicial custody.
