Thieves steal man’s case, keep the cash, dump gun

A 35-year-old businessman from Pune, in the city for work, was robbed of his briefcase containing a Smith and Wesson revolver and Rs 60,000 cash. The police said members of the Tak Tak gang distracted his car driver and fled with the case. While they kept the cash, they dumped the case containing the gun on the street.

Mukund Dhariya was seated in his Audi in Fort when the case was stolen. The theft went unnoticed until the MRA Marg police found the unclaimed bag on the street. When they opened it, the police offiicals found the revolver with the licence and contacted Dhariya, after which a complaint was registered.

“The thief must have got afraid after finding the revolver and decided to dump the bag,” said an officer from MRA Marg police station.

“We have registered a case under sections 379 (theft) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons. We are checking CCTV footage from the location,” said Sukhlal Varpe, senior inspector at MRA Marg police station.

Tak Tak gang is notorious in distracting four-wheeler drivers and stealing belongings from the car.
