On Tuesday afternoon, 65-year-old Ramesh Tonde from Kalwa, Thane set out to cast his vote. However, after reaching his polling booth, he was confused when he saw four different coloured EVMs staring at him. “This time I heard I have to elect a panel of four corporators. But I just do not know which button to press and if my vote has been cast,” said a perplexed Tonde from outside the booth. “Every time I pressed a button on one machine, I would wait for it to beep. But it did not happen. Later I learnt that after selecting four candidates on four machines there would be one final beep. I asked the officials too, but even they failed to explain it to me,” he says.

“I hope next time they have the old single candidate system which is much better and less confusing and time consuming,” Tonde said.

Due to the four panel voting system in TMC elections this time, every person has to choose a panel of four candidates from each ward divided into A, B, C and D.
