Thane CDR case: Duo arrested

Thane cops have arrested two more people in the CDR case in which four private eyes obtained call data records and sold them for profit.  The two are being interrogated and the cops are tightlipped till they get more information.

On Wednesday, Thane crime branch unit 1 arrested Ajinkya Nagargoje and Jaspreet from Pune for providing Vashi detectives with CDRs.  “ Nagargoje has provided 111 CDRs to Jigar Makwana who is one of the detectives arrested on January 24.  The role of Jaspreet is yet to be ascertained,” says Abhishek Trimukhe, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 1, Thane.  “The interrogation is on and the number of CDRs provided by Jaspreet is not ascertained yet,” he adds.  He refused to provide any more information about the two arrested.

The cops had arrested four detectives of Globe Detective Agency, Makesh Pandiyan, Prashant Palekar, 49, Samaresh Jha, 42 and Jigar Makwana, 35 on January 24 for selling CDRs to their clients.  These clients include corporates, insurance surveyors, married couples, etc.  The cops seized laptops, computers and mobile phones from their office and residence and found a cache of 177 CDRs.

While the three detectives have been remanded in judicial custody, Makwana was arrested a day later and will be presented in Thane court on Thursday.  

The cops had also arrested Rajani Pandit known as India’s first lady James Bond, on February 2.
