Residents of Shivaji Park, Cadell Road have demanded that their share of water which was diverted to Malabar Hill should be stopped immediately to restore their supply. On Tuesday, Sandeep Deshpande, corporator of Shivaji Park and MNS leader in the BMC-led protest outside the office of water department of the BMC and demanded immediate rectification. Sources claim that water supply planning wing of the water department had made these changes recently.

Residents of Shivaji Park, Cadell Road had not so long ago been receiving water with less pressure. "The overhead tank which took less than an hour an half and at times two hour to fill did not get filled even after increase in time. We were struggling to find the answer but when we got to know we were baffled," said a resident who was a part of protest outside water department.

When residents made several complaints, the water department increased the time of supply. "But it was of no use. Merely changing water timing or increasing the time slot did not help. The residents started complaining to the ward office but nothing seemed to be changing. We waited for a long time that the rectification must be underway after the complaints. However, when we realised that there was no change, we started our own investigation", said Deshpande.

However, it was realised by MNS corporator that in recent past there were several complaints from Malabar Hill about less water supply and low pressure. The complaint coming from VVIP areas was unavoidable and the easy solution was to increase the pressure at Malabar Hill end from the pipeline which comes from Mahim. All the water which was of Shivaji Park's share was diverted to Malabar Hill. Furious residents and MNS leader staged protest on Tuesday and demanded immediate rectification. Deputy Municipal Commissioner (DMC) incharge of Water Department promised the correction.

Prakash Bambhle, DMC heard the plaints and assured immediate action. However, he said that there can be imbalance in pressure but no such bias from BMC. "There can be imbalance in water pressure. We will check the valves and water pressure of both the areas. We had therefore increased the timing too. If that is the case we will rectify", said Bambhle.
