Abhay Deol was spotted as the chief guest on the release of Malhar -- St. Xavier's inter-college festival -- Conclave line-up on Thursday in the campus. India's biggest college festival, Mlalhar '14 will kick start on August 14.

Unlike other college festivals, the organisers of Malhar seek to break the cycle of monotony and bring a renaissance this year. Promoting the tagline Malhar '14 - A Renaissance, the organisers aim at promoting the freedom of speech and expression through free flowing interaction and debate with speakers such as: theatre director Pranab Mukherjee, bassist and vocalist of Indian Ocean Rahul Ram,  actor Rajat Kapoor, jurist and author Leila Seth, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, RBI's Raghuram Rajan, and many more.

Speaking on the occasion, the Dev D star advised the students, "Have a renaissance of your own. It's our responsibility to enrich the world with our lives, which starts by enriching ourselves. People have tremendous capacity for change, experiment; to revive the spirit to celebrate life rather destroy it."

Elated to have handed over the responsibilities of the fest to students, Father Frazer Mascarenhas, principal of St. Xavier's College, feels, "Malhar gives them (students) a great platform to train themselves to face life. Malhar gives them a reason to enjoy and learn at the same time."

The student-conference will be held on the first day of the three-day-long festival on August 14.
