Speeding biker rams into senior near Ghodbunder

A 64-year-old senior citizen from Thane was allegedly mowed down by a speeding biker while crossing the road near Ghodbunder Road. The pillion rider too suffered injuries and both were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The senior citizen Vijaykumar Iyer was mowed down by Deepak Kose. His friend who was riding pillion, Rameshkumar Pandey, too, suffered severe injuries. Iyer is a resident of Lodha Splendor off Ghodbunder Road, Thane.

A senior police officer from Kapurbawadi said, "The biker did not wait as the signal turned red and was speeding when the senior citizen was run over by the biker. His friend too suffered severe injuries."

"We have registered a case under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt endangering life or personal safety of others) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act," said the official.
