Singhania school students interacts with Thane Municipal Corporation chief

Starting his conversation on a lighter note, the commissioner told the children about how he joined Indian Administrative Services (IAS) to fulfill his mother's dream and asked the children to pursue their dreams sincerely.

Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) civic chief, Sanjeev Jaiswal had an interactive session with near about 100 students from Singhania school on Friday, where in students asked questions about city's development plan and various other issues.

Starting his conversation on a lighter note, the commissioner told the children about how he joined Indian Administrative Services (IAS) to fulfill his mother's dream and asked the children to pursue their dreams sincerely.

Being aware of the city problems and latest building collapse, one of the student asked, what is being done for the dangerous and dilapidated buildings. Jaiswal replied, "We are aware of the problems and are trying our best to frame the guidelines to avoid such incidents. People from dilapidated buildings have been rehabilitated and various other preventive measures have been taken."

Issues like traffic, road safety, pollution, hawkers' menace and others have been discussed in the interactive session. Speaking of hawkers' menace, civic chief said, "We not only have to shoo away the hawkers but also have to work on their rehabilitation."

He assured the students that in future a high-tech science centre and aqaurium will be built especially for the kids. While ending the discussion, he advised the kids to be disciplined, adhere to rules, listen to parents and teachers and above all, be a good human being and treat your home and city equally.

The students too, pledged towards maintaining clean and beautiful Thane city and said that they would adhere to the traffic rules and regulations.

Near Singhania school, parents, students and others face the worse traffic during peak hours which the students are aware of. So, the kids want this issue to be solved.

The commissioner too, was happy and amazed as the children were aware of the problems of the city and wanted a solution to the same. "It was a pleasure meeting the kids. Also, I was surprised as they are aware of what is happening around."
