The Thane ex-Mayor while entering his office was in for a rude shock when he realised that his purse has been pickpocketed. The alert former Mayor immediately instructed his bodyguard to catch hold of two possible suspects who posed as Shiv Sena partyworkers.

Sanjay More, former mayor of Thane had visited the TMC office and was walking towards his chamber on the first floor. More had come to the TMC office for the elections of Mayor and Deputy Mayor on Tuesday afternoon.

The two persons Nassoorulla Mohammed Ansari,57 and Kamarali Sayyed,35 both residents of Malegaon were posing as Shiv Sena partyworkers and were staying close to the mayor when suddenly one of them shoved his hand in the pocket of the ex-mayor and took away the purse.

"The security guard and the bodyguard of the mayor soon nabbed the duo and detained them. When they conducted a search, they found the valuables", said a police officer from Wagle police station.

"We have registered the case of theft against the duo and they have been remanded to police custody", said Sukhada Narkar, PRO, Thane police department.
