The Bombay High Court suggested to CBI to release Shyamwar Rai's statement, which was filed under Section 164 of CrPC. The court further said that the statement is now a public document and the prosecution cannot hold it back. The matter has been adjourned for June 30.

Rai is the former driver of Indrani Mukerjea, who along with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna has been accused of strangulating her daughter Sheena Bora on April 24, 2012.

CBI lawyer Purnima Kantharia told the court that the investigation is still in progress, and therefore, the statement would be released as soon as the investigation is complete. Khanna's advocate Hrishikesh Mundargi at the same time argued that the prosecution cannot hold back the statement and it's their right under Section 207 of the Evidence Act to get the same.

On June 20, Rai was made an approver in the case and he has been granted pardon on certain terms and conditions.

Indrani Mukerjea and Khanna were arrested in August last year while Peter Mukerjea, Indrani's husband, was arrested in November on charges of murder, abduction and destruction of evidence.
