Segregate petitions related to Adarsh case, Bombay high court tells CBI

The Bombay high court has directed the CBI and various petitioners to sort out all petitions filed against the Adarsh Housing Society in Colaba and submit a list of the ones can be tried together by September 3.

A division bench of Justice P V Hardas and Justice Anuja Prabhu Dessai said there are several petitions before it that have been clubbed together, including some for which relief has already been granted. Therefore the court would prefer to hear petitions seeking similar relief together.

Praveen Wategaonkar, one of the petitioners, said, "Some petitions, like the ones that had requested for the investigations to been transferred to the CBI, or those which request for registration of offences against some of the accused, have already been addressed after the CBI filed its charge sheet. That is why the court decided that it would be better to sort out the petitions."

The CBI has charge sheeted several government officials, ministers and promoters of Adarsh in connected with alleged irregularities committed in building the housing society. The trial is being conducted before the special CBI court.
