Second-highest ranking person of Dawoodi Bohra community passes away

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin led the Namaz-e- Janaza of the late Syedi at Saifee Masjid in Bhendi Bazaar. He was buried at Nariyal Wadi cemetery of the community.

The ​​second-highest ranking person of the Dawoodi Bohra community or Mazoon-e-Dawat Syedi Husain bhaisaheb Husamuddin passed away on Tuesday early morning. He was 100 (according to the Islamic calendar) at his residence at Saifee Mahal, Mumbai as per an official press release sent by the community. 

Born in Gujarat, Syedi Husamuddin was the second son of the 51st Dai al-Mutlaq, Syedna Taher Saifuddin. The 53rd head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, Dr Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin had appointed him to the position of the Mazoon a few months after the passing of the 52nd Dai, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin in 2014, to whom Syedi had served as the Mukasir, another position in the Dawoodi Bohra rank. 

Syedi had also held some other important position within the community that included him presiding over Anjumane Shiate Ali, the organisation charged with administering the communities affairs in Mumbai.

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin led the Namaz-e- Janaza of the late Syedi at Saifee Masjid in Bhendi Bazaar. He was buried at Nariyal Wadi cemetery of the community.
