St. John Universal School, Goregaon, has received a showcause notice from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) P/South ward, against alleged unauthorised construction within the school premises.

P/South ward of the BMC served the notice to the school, asking them to show the documents proving that the changes they are making in the building structure is not unauthorised. A copy of the same is with DNA. On the evening of January 10, the school's premises felt tremors and vibrations in the building, forcing the school to declare a holiday to their students to conduct structural audit.

Many parents were unhappy after 10 days when the school resumed. The school shared just the front page of the structural audit undertaken by a private organisation with the parents, which declared the school safe. Some of the parents anonymously sent a complaint to the local ward office against the school's altered structure.

The showcause notice was served on February 2.
