The Marathi edition of Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subhash Chandra's autobiography, The Z Factor: My Journey as the Wrong Man at the Right Time was released at a grand function held on Friday at ITC Grand Central, and attended by the who's who of the state.

The book was launched jointly by several prominent personalities of the state including Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, former Defence Minister Sharad Pawar, and former Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan.

Dr Chandra's decision of writing a book was inspired by his father's words of giving back to society. "He said that you should not just distribute your wealth but also your experience. That is what lead me to write this book," said Dr Chandra.

He added, "I have always worked to get the maximum result and also push myself to deliver accordingly. That is what I expect from people who work with me. Work should be carried out keeping social welfare in mind."

Dr Chandra stated that having his autobiography translated in Marathi was only natural. Even though he was born in Haryana, his karmabhoomi for the past 35 years has been Mumbai. "I had come to the city back then. I feel that today's youth should read this book and gain all the experience they can from it," said Dr Chandra, whose views were echoed by all those who released the book.

Gadkari said, "I feel the young Marathi generation should particularly read the book and learn entrepreneurial skills. They should look to create jobs than to have one. When my mother wanted me to do a bank job, I told her that I wanted to be a job creator. But Dr Chandra has managed to be far more daring than me. He takes tough decisions and has ensured that he had all the success."

CM Fadnavis, too, emphasised that the youth should particularly take a cue from Dr Chandra's vision and career. "In his book, he has not just written about his success but also his failures, his mistakes. His autobiography is not just about what he did but also what he aims to do."

Pawar, who fondly spoke of his bitter-sweet association with Chandra said, "I met him 35 years ago. After he set up EsselWorld, we levied 150 per cent tax on ticket. There were a lot of issues but then he was confident and made sure his venture sailed through. Another instance was when I had to pick Lalit Modi's IPL idea over his though he came with that idea first."

Prithviraj Chavan said that Dr Chandra's life was an example of those who make it big despite hardships and not having enough resources. "Due to hardships, he had to quit his education. But he went on to not just repay his family loan, but also began several new ventures and gained success in all of them."
