The state-appointed inquiry committee to probe the Dr LH Hiranandani hospital kidney racket will submit its final investigation report to the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) on Monday. Meanwhile, the recipient in the case was discharged from the hospital on Saturday. The woman donor is still in the hospital.

DHS assistant director Dr Gauri Rathod, who looks after the department of human organ transplants, said, "In course of the investigation, we looked at the documents and videos concerned, while we also talked to the recipient and donor. Their statements have been recorded."

She said they will submit the final report on Monday, and no details can be revealed as of now.

On July 14, a live related kidney transplant was stopped by the police at Hiranandani hospital after receiving information that the donor was impersonating as the recipient's wife by forging documents. The state government then appointed an expert committee to probe the matter in detail.

"We discharged the recipient on Saturday. The donor is still in the hospital. We have removed the alternate stitches and the rest will be removed on Monday," said Dr Sujit Chatterjee, CEO, Dr H Hiranandani Hospital.

So far, the Powai police have arrested seven people, including the hospital's transplant coordinator Nilesh Kamble. Police said Kamble had been working with the hospital for the last five years and there might be several other kidney transplants done on the basis of fake documents. The hospital's transplant licence was suspended by the state on July 16. The hospital, too, has appointed an internal committee and found discrepancies in documents submitted in another live related kidney transplant case.
