The prisons department is likely to submit its report in the Indrani Mukerjea suspected overdose incident to the state government by early next week. The report would consist statements of Indrani, prison and para-medical staff of Byculla prison and the reports from JJ Hospital and forensic department.

"We would submit our report by early next week," confirmed BK Singh, inspector general of police (prisons).

On Wednesday, principal home secretary (prisons) Vijay Satbir Singh met Indrani inside Bycuall jail, prison sources said.

Officials from the British consulate would meet Indrani in the jail on Friday. Earlier last month, the consulate officials had visited the prison but they were not allowed access to Indrani, who holds British citizenship. The consulate officials did not have the required documents, sources said.

"Nobody from Indrani's family had visited her since her discharge from the hospital. When Indrani had got lodged in the prison after she was sent to judicial custody by the court, a woman had come to meet her, but was not allowed access as her name was not in the visitors' list of the prison. Every inmate needs to give a list of people's names whom she would want to meet to the prison officials. Someone had recently sent a money order of Rs2,000 to Indrani. She can utilise this money for making purchases of food items from the prison canteen," said a prison official.

The official added that following her discharge, Indrani is being given vitamin pills by the jail doctors.

Indrani is accused of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora along with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamvar Rai in 2012. Sheena's body was set on fire and was dumped in the jungles of Pen, police had said.
