The Powai police on Wednesday arrested a 27-year-old serial molester for allegedly stalking and flashing his private parts in front of three college girls on July 13. The police revealed that the accused has nine cases of molestation registered against him in police stations across the city.

Kalpesh Deodhar, a driver by profession and Malad resident, was arrested from Govandi after CCTV cameras near Hiranandani Eternia building captured him in the act. Deodhare had followed the college girls and fled after flashing them. The girls soon informed the Mumbai police control room about the incident.

"We scanned the locality's CCTV footage and found the description matching the accused on his two wheeler. We sent his picture across police stations in Mumbai and finally located him at Govandi," said a senior police officer from Powai.

"After his arrest we learnt that he was last arrested by DN Nagar police in a molestation case and has a total of nine cases of molestation registered against him in different police stations across Mumbai," said Balwant Deshmukh, Police Inspector, Powai police station. "The accused revealed that he molested and outraged the modesty of women for fun and on the day of the incident he found the girl walking alone on the street and so indulged in the act," he added.

"Deodhar has been arrested under sections 354 (D) (stalking), 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and when we produced him before the court, he was remanded into police custody for two days," said Deshmukh.
