Around fourty students from Borivali's JBCN International School may face expulsion on Monday. According to the Forum for Fairness in Education (FFE) children whose parents are protesting against the fee hike will be expelled from the school soon.

The school on the otherhand has claimed that the expulsion is due to non-payment of fees by the parents, pending from last September. According to Right to Education, no school can expel a child till he/she completes elementary education.

At the beginning of this year, around 40 parents from this suburban school protested after they were threatened by school management that their children will be expelled for non-payment of fees.

The parents however have alleged that the school is indulging in an unfair practice, where half of the students were asked to pay less compared to their classmates.

According to them, the school has asked non-pioneer parents to pay Rs. 1,17,000/- for the current academic year of 2014 for grade I, whereas pioneer parents are paying Rs. 68000 for same grade.

Jayant Jain, President of FFE, said, "When the education minister met the parents, school and education officials, he assured us that children will not be removed from the school and still the parents are being forced to take the leaving certificates next week."

While the forum claims 40 children will face expulsion from the school, according to school authorities the number has come down but cannot be revealed as of now.

"Pending fees from September is a concern for us. Especially when all other parents have been disciplined enough to complete their formalities?. We have sent reminders, messages and tried our level best. We have never let all this impact their education. But this repeated negligence in paying up the fees indicates that the parents are not interested in continuing with us. Instead, we would like to grant admissions to the children on the wait list," said the official spokesperson from the school.
