Interrogation of a 27-year-old serial molester arrested by the Powai police has allegedly revealed that he had outraged the modesty of at least 50 women after he was released on bail in 2011 in a case of stalking and flashing. On Thursday, police sent the accused for a psychiatric test to JJ Hospital.

According to the police, Kalpesh Deodhar, has nine cases of molestation and kidnapping registered against him in various police stations in the city and was out on bail in a recent molestation case registered against him at DN Nagar Police Station.

On July 13, Deodhar had allegedly stalked and flashed before three college girls walking near Powai Hiranandani Eternia Mall. Deodhar also made obscene gestures at girls and fled when they called police.

"Deodhar kept shuttling between his three properties and was finally nabbed from Govandi. Deodhar's family too have distanced themselves with him because of his notorious behaviour," said a senior Powai police officer. "The family members also revealed that Deodhar indulged in molesting and outraging the modesty of women when he was in drunken state and many friends had cut all ties with him due to his indecent activities," he added.

"Deodhar claimed that he has molested over 50 women in and around Mumbai. Many women have not come forward to complain against the accused and we appeal the victims to come forward and approach the police. Their identities will not be disclosed," said Balwant Deshmukh, Police Inspector, Powai police station.
