Monday was the first day of the special round of First Year Junior College (FYJC) online admission process for those students, who were unhappy with the colleges allotted to them or wished to change their medium or preference.

The students were asked to fill a minimum of 10 and maximum of 15 options in the online application form for admission. But it was not as easy as it sounds, as students were suppose to check the vacancies in colleges and the cut off percentages to see whether they are eligible to secure a seat in those colleges.

Meera Oza, one of the parents whose son is seeking admission through the online admission process, said: "Though this time, the number of colleges were less to fill in the online admission form, I had to check with every college before filling their names in the form for my son. Also, we had to check the cut off percentage of colleges separately that took at least two hours to fill the form."

Oza's son could not get admission during the June online admission process because the college that was allotted to him did not give a system generated receipt and confirmed the admission on online portal.

According to Oza, there were many students who had come to the guidance centre to check why their forms were not being accepted online.

Jyoti Das, one of the students who participated in Monday's online admission process, said: "Initially, I was confused about how to use the new login ID and password but later my friend helped me. It was easier this time to fill online application forms as we were asked to fill limited names of colleges in the application. But I did not take the trouble to check the vacancies of colleges and cut off percentage whose names I have filled in my form. I have opted form more unaided junior colleges than aided ones as it is easier to get admission there."

Today (Monday) over 46,600 students filled the online admission forms for FYJC admission. On Tuesday as well the students can fill the admission form. The merit list of these two rounds will be declared on August 11 and the admissions can be secured by students on August 12 and 13.

BB Chauhan, deputy director of school education, said: "This time as well students will be sent a message about the colleges they have been allotted admission. Till evening 46,600 students filled the online application form.

The number of application is expected to increase on Tuesday."
