One dies in midnight fire in Andheri

A 30-year-old man died after a fire broke out in a three-storied building at Mittal Industrial Estate on Andheri-Kurla road in the early hours of Thursday.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade received a level-II fire call around 1.15 am, which was brought under control by around 3.50 am.

The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Vishwakarma and he was declared dead on arrival at Cooper Hospital. He had received major burn injuries in the blaze and suffocated. He was an employee in the godown where the fire broke out.

According to a fire officer, the fire was confined to the 300 sq-metre godown of the ground plus three storey building. Plastic material and electrical wiring were gutted in the fire.

Meanwhile, a minor fire was also reported at the eleven-storey Gudecha building at Saki Naka, Andheri around 1.45 pm. The fire was confined to the fourth floor of the residential house. However, no injury been reported.
