A 25-year-old man died and his cousin was seriously injured after the bike they were travelling on skid and rammed into a parked BMC dumper on the LBS Marg in Bhandup (west) on Tuesday. The biker wasn't wearing a helmet, said the police.
Deceased Sachin Raul (25) was on the front seat of the two-wheeler with his cousin Rishikesh Raul (24) riding pillion at the time of the fatal mishap, said the Bhandup police. Quoting eyewitnesses, they said the vehicle skid after Sachin applied sudden brakes.
"Sachin lost the control of the bike and rammed into a BMC dumper that was parked on the road. Sachin, who was not wearing a helmet, died on the spot due to head injuries, while Rishikesh sustained severe injuries," said P R Chavan, senior inspector from Bhandup police station.
After being alerted by the locals, the police took Rishikesh to the nearest hospital. "Rishikesh is currently admitted to a hospital and is stable," said Chavan. The Bhandup police have registered a case of accidental death.
