The massive ‘call detail record’ scam that was unearthed by the Thane Police in January this year saw yet another sensational revelation on Monday.

Now, Telugu actor Akruti Nagpal has alleged that her call detail records were illegally procured by tainted lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui to help her husband in their divorce case.

Rizwan Siddiqui who hit the headlines in the CDR case was Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s lawyer. He was arrested by the Thane crime branch last Friday for obtaining the actor’s wife’s CDR. He has been now remanded to police custody till March 23.

In her statement to Thane Police, Nagpal on Monday said Siddiqui may have got her call details record through illegal means.

The actress said that she came to Thane to give her statement reading in the newspapers about Rizwan’s involvement in the CDR case.

Nagpal visited Thane crime branch unit 1 around 3pm on March 19. In her statement given to the cops, she said that her husband Anil Mistry and Rizwan are childhood friends and in 2014 Mistry had filed for divorce.

“At that time, Rizwan who is also Mistry’s lawyer submitted my phone conversations and some pen drive in the family court to strengthen his divorce case,” Nagpal said.

Nagpal alleged that Rizwan has always supported her husband in all his doings and there is high possibility he also got CDR (call data record) for him. “After I read in the newspapers and saw media reports on television against Rizwan, I felt I should also give my statement to the cops,” she said.

When contacted DCP Abhishek Trimukhe, Zone 1 confirmed the actress approaching the cops. “Yes she has given her statement,” he said.

The CDR scam involves many high profile people from Hindi film industry. A number of Bollywood personalities took services from the detectives arrested in the major Call Detail Records (CDR) racket case, sleuths probing the revealed on Thursday. A number of businessmen also took services of the detectives and snooped into the accounts of their rivals, police sources said.
