No bumpy ride for Bappa this year?

Ahead of Ganeshotsav, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has been flooded with complaints about potholes and so it has swung into action. The TMC wants to ensure a smooth ride for Bappa and so they have started repairing the roads and filling potholes in prime areas.

"Though this year the monsoon has been weak, potholes have resurfaced in many areas like Kapurbawdi, Naupada and few areas of Ghodbunder Road and Pokhran," says Arvind Waghela, a resident.

The team led by city engineer has given special importance to prime areas where the movement is maximum and are also taking help of the pothole-fixing app to locate potholes and fix them. Residents, too, are sending photographs of potholes from their areas and want the TMC to fix them at the earliest.

Sandeep Malvi, TMC PRO, said, "Fixing potholes is a continuous process and we have been fixing all of them across the city. This will continue for a couple of more weeks. The authorities will act on all the complaints."

Avinash Mathur, a resident, said, "Every year, the TMC assures pothole-free ride but are doing a shoddy work. We have been reporting about craters through the app, but we doubt about quality of work that they will carry out at prime locations," said Vaishali Rai, another resident.

Malvi added, "We have given instructions to the officials to attend to all complaints, even if it is coming from small pockets."

There are around 600 small and big mandals across the city who celebrate Ganpati festival and bring idols in different sizes. They have demanded smooth roads so that it is easy to transport the idols.
