Navi Mumbai: Zee 24 reporter and videographer attacked by local goons in Digha

In a shocking instance of violence, Zee 24 Taas journalist Swati Naik and videographer Sandeep Bharati were attacked by local goons in Digha on Tuesday. Sandeep was badly hurt in the attack and has been admitted in a local hospital. Naik and Sandeep were covering the action against illegal construction in Digha when they were assaulted.

As per the preliminary information available, the videographer, identified as Sandeep Bharti, and Swati Naik, the Navi Mumbai correspondent of the leading channel, were attacked by the mob without provocation. The duo had gone to the township abutting Thane, where razing of illegal structures was undertaken by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) on the directions of court.

When contacted, an official from Rabale police station confirmed the incident, saying the videographer was hospitalised. The reporter too was taken to a local hospital, but was discharged after treatment.
