Mumbai: Two brothers killed in WEH hit-and-run

According to the police, Ritesh Gupta, who was riding the two-wheeler, died on the spot while his cousin brother Dhanu Gupta was rushed to Shatabdi hospital but he died during treatment.

In a shocking incident, a student of Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) and a hardware engineer were mowed to death by an unidentified truck driver near Dahisar check naka. The 21-year-old biker was with his cousin brother, both residents of Mira Road. The Dahisar police are investigating the case.

According to the police, Ritesh Gupta, who was riding the two-wheeler, died on the spot while his cousin brother Dhanu Gupta was rushed to Shatabdi hospital but he died during treatment.

The speeding truck driver fled from the spot as other motorists tried to stop the driver but failed.

Suresh Gupta, Ritesh's father, said, "We take the same route to reach my shop in Borivali, i saw policemen standing near the accident spot and a lot of blood was on the road. I did not find anything amiss and i moved ahead. When i reached the shop, i did not find them so i sent one of my workers to check their whereabouts. My fears came true when policemen called me to inform about the accident. We want the driver to be punished and he must be sent behind bars for killing my sons."

Vasant Pingle, Senior Police Inspector of Dahisar police station, said, "We have registered a case under section 304(A) (Causing death due to negligence), 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code and under relevant sections of Motor Vehicles Act. We are checking the CCTV cameras to identify the accused driver."
