Mumbai: Poonam Dhillon's new play 'The Hum Yatri' staged for Dombivlikars

Residents of Dombivli's Palava city were elated this weekend as they got an opportunity to watch the performance of veteran actress Poonam Dhillon. The Hum Yatri theatre group visited Dombivli to perform the play – The Perfect Wife, for a small audience of 200 residents. This celebrated play has been the talk of the town in various cities and as it was staged for the first time in greater Mumbai.

As part of their initiative to encourage Arts and Culture in Palava, this play was introduced. The thought provoking yet light humoured Hindi play, which is directed by Ashutosh Sinha and written by Rekha Sahay, is receiving raving reviews from various publications and theatre aficionados in the country. The play portrays the life of a modern Indian woman who is juggling domestic as well as outside life. She gains her independence by taking up a job and at the same time, manages her responsibilities at home.

Featuring cine stars and television actors like Sooraj Thapar, Vinod Kapoor and comedian Liliput, the play has the role of the perfect wife played by Poonam Dhillon, who conveys genuine inspirations and tells a heart-felt story of bringing happiness to life in a humorous way. The theatre group started by Rekha Sahay in Mumbai has already staged the play in Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Kanpur, America and Dubai; it was highly appreciated by the audiences.

"It was a great opportunity to watch such well known actors performing live on stage, even the plot of the play is interesting," said one of the residents.
