The Mumbai crime branch have arrested two people in connection of firing on a 40-year-old small businessman Pramod Kamtekar in the area of Sewree on April 11. One of the arrested duo was resident of the same housing society in which the victim lived with his family.

According to the Mumbai crime branch, the accused has been identified as Pramod Sawant and Santosh Parab. While Sawant is a resident of the same housing society where the victim Kamtekar lived, Parab was a resident of Thane district.

"While investigating the case, we had come to know that Kamtekar was involved in a tiff with some resident in connection of redevelopment project of his residential society", said an officer from Mumbai crime branch. He further added " We came know that few days back Kamtekar and Sawant had some difference between them in regards to the redevelopment project and we started working on the leads".

During the course of investigation, the sleuths came to know Sawant has been claiming that he has two houses in the residential society and wanted a bigger room for himself after redevelopment. However some of the society members were against his claim and Kamtekar who was actively involved in the committee formed by the society too had raised an objection to Sawant's claim. " Kamtekar was the one who was convincing the society members to agree and get the project underway. Sawant had an issue with Kamtekar as he did not agree to his claim and wanted to teach him and the other committee members a lesson", said an officer.

Sawant in order to execute his plan got in touch with his friend Santosh Parab, a history sheeter with criminal cases registered against him. " Parab has earlier cases against him and he enrolled another of his friend in the case to carry out the work", said the officer. He further added " Parab and the wanted accused kept a watch on Kamtekar and finally on April 11 they followed him on a bike from his shop and the wanted accused fired one round on him and fled from the spot". The Mumbai crime branch have launched a manhunt for the third accused in the case
