Mumbai: Cable TV wires cause Western Railway evening disruption

The train disruption on Western Railway was due to the infringement of cable TV wires going above overhead equipment. According to WR officials, at about 5:45pm, due to some external cable wires of TV and other networks breaking down on OHE wires from nearby high rise buildings, the OHE malfunctioned.

WR in a statement said that 60 trains had to be cancelled.

"WR has identified 39 such locations on Mumbai suburban network and problems at about 10 to 12 locations have been sorted out. In order to compensate today's cancellation of services, running schedule of peak hours will be followed till late night for the convenience of commuters," said WR in a statement.
