Monika More, the plucky 17-year-old who lost her hands in a train accident in January, thanked Zee 24-tass on Friday for standing by her.

"After hearing my story, many people helped me financially and motivated me," said More who spent six months at the orthopaedic ward in KEM Hospital following the accident in which she lost her hands.

After being discharged, the Kurla resident headed straight to Zee 24-taas office in Lower Parel where she was felicitated. Life is slowly getting back to normal for the teenager who met with the accident while boarding a train at Ghatkopar station on January 11.

More seemed visibly amused at seeing Zee 24-taas office and newsroom and meeting the team.

"I have never seen a newsroom set-up. I will always be grateful to Zee 24-taas team. Many people who saw their programme helped me," said More. She was accompanied by her parents, brother and dean of KEM Hospital.

Asked what she was planning to do, More said she was looking forward to meeting her friends. "I will start life afresh, study hard and get a job," said More.

Appreciating her spirit, Dr Uday Nirgudkar, editor-in-chief, Zee 24-taas, said her story had been an inspiration.

Agreeing with him, Dr Shubhangi Parker, acting dean of KEM Hospital, where More spent six months, said: "From the third day itself, she was very cheerful."

Apart from well wishers who had come to meet her, More said her cousins had ensured she kept abreast with what was happening around. "They showed me the latest movies. I saw Ek Villian while in hospital. I used to study for an hour; the rest of the time was spent meeting people," said More.

At Zee 24-taas office, she also met MP Kirit Somaiyya. More promised Somaiyya that she would study hard and appear for the civil service exams. Sudha Chandran, the well known actress who lost her leg in accident, congratulated her for dealing with problems positively.

More also interacted with celebrities like Mrinal Kulkarni, Vibhavari Deshpande and Sharad Ponkshe who all appreciated her will-to-survive attitude.
