Minister of State for housing development assures House of inquiry report into SRA scam

Admitting that there were irregularities in related projects, Waikar assured the House that CID inquiry would be conducted in all issues relating to this scam.

Announcing a CID inquiry into Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) scam, Minister of State (MoS) for Housing Development, Ravindra Waikar on Tuesday assured the state assembly that all committee reports and CID inquiry reports would be placed before the state assembly.

MLAs from various parties including former Mumbai Mayor Sunil Prabhu, Sunil Shinde, Santosh Danve, Shashikant Shinde, Bacchu Kadu, Dr Anil Bonde had asked question on SRA scam. Admitting that there were irregularities in related projects, Waikar assured the House that CID inquiry would be conducted in all issues relating to this scam.

Sunil Prabhu questioned as to why was report of Sitaram Kunte was not placed before the state assembly. Former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan asked for the reasons behind the inquiry conducted by the secretary of the department when irregularities had been found in 33 files cleared by the then CEO Vishwas Patil. Chavan further questioned that how can justice be done to the inquiry while it is conducted by the secretary of the same department.

Waikar informed that Sitaram Kunte's committee file was missing and a complaint had been filed regading the same. The minister informed the House that after CEO Vishwas Patil's retirement, an inquiry was conducted by a committee of four members and irregularities in 33 files were found. He informed that the committee's report would be placed before the House in a month and taking into account strong sentiments of members on this issue, a CID inquiry would be conducted in to entire SRA scam. Waikar also assured that the CID report would also be placed before the state assembly.
