Man planned girlfriend's murder 15 days ago: Police

Investigating the case of Prasad Sawant, who stabbed his girlfriend Ekta Talwadkar to death, the Kalachowkie police have found that Sawant had planned the murder a few days back.

Sawant stabbed Talwadkar, his girlfriend for eleven years, at Wadia Baugh near Parsi Colony in Kalachowkie on Sunday evening in fit of rage as her family were against their relationship.

According to the police, Talwadkar's parents were not very keen on their daughter being in a relationship with Sawant. Her parents had started searching for a groom for. In fact, they recently visited Pune to see a prospective groom for her marriage. "It seems that Sawant was very upset with the way things turning were turning out for him and his girlfriend. Sawant had decided to kill Talwadkar at least 15 days back," said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) and Mumbai police spokesperson Dhananjay Kulkarni.

"The accused had around 15 days back brought the weapon used for the crime and it was clear that he had intention of killing her," infoemed Kulkarni.

Sawant, a resident of Denu Compound in Lalbaug, was in love with the deceased for the past eleven years. On Sunday evening, troubled by the stiff opposition from Talwadkar's parents, Sawant slit his girlfriend's neck and stabbed her. He later surrendered himself before the police.
