A complaint was registered at Kalachowkie Police under section 354 (D) (stalking) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested by the Kalachowkie police for allegedly stalking and sending lewd messages to his ex-girlfriend. The arrested person has been identified as Ashish Upadhyay.
According to the police, the girl had met Upadhyay, while she was interning at a private company in Kurla in 2013. Soon they became good friends and later Ashish proposed marriage to her but she refused as she wanted to concentrate on her career. Despite this, Ashish kept insisting that she get married to her.
“The duo broke up, but in January last year, they again began dating and broke up with in a few days as Ashish used to suspect that the victim was having another affair. After the break, Ashish continued to stalk the girl and harassing her,” a police officer said.
He added, the girl also left her job recently after getting fed up with Ashish as he would stalk her from office to anywhere she would go. “Ashish had also started making abusive calls and sending lewd messages abusing her and her parents after which she lodged a police complaint,” he said.
A complaint was registered at Kalachowkie Police under section 354 (D) (stalking) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. Ashish was arrested and was later granted bail by the court.
