Man files for bail in his wife's and her advocate's murder case

The application also said that as and when required, Chintan was always available to the crime branch officers for investigation and extended his full co-operation to the crime branch.

Chintan Upadhyay (43), was was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife Hema Upadhyay and her advocate Harish Bhambani, on Friday, filed his bail application before the Dindoshi court.

Chintan in his bail application claimed that the charges levelled against him were not applicable to him. The 20-page bail application, read: "It is not the case of the prosecution that the applicant was present at the scene of offence on the date of the incidence. In fact, he was in Delhi and he came to Mumbai on receipt of the information about the missing of his wife. There is no eyewitness to the Murder. There is no proximate cause which is mentioned in the charge. Also, there isn't any reason to commit murder of Advocate Bhambhani with whom the applicant could not have had any enmity, and in fact, did not have any grudge to take his life."

The application also said that as and when required, Chintan was always available to the crime branch officers for investigation and extended his full co-operation to the crime branch.

The prosecution will file a reply on September 28. Both the bodies of Upadhyay and Bhambhani were found wrapped in plastic bags in Kandivli. After which, the police had arrested Upadhyay's estranged husband Chintan in the said case among others for allegedly conspiring the murder.
