In the wake of repeated suicide incidences at Mantralaya, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, has requested the state government to imtrospect. He added that these incidences of suicide or attempts are shameful for the state.

The comments came after Harshal Raote committed suicide on Thursday by jumping from the fifth floor of Mantralaya, attracting eyeballs of several onlookers and bystanders. Raote jumped at around 6 pm when the Mantralaya staff was about to leave for home.

After visiting the Trimoorti atrium spot where Raote landed on the floor, opposition leaders discussed the issue with senior police officials and BJP Minister Vinod Tawde.

Speaking to media persons, NCP leader, Ajit Pawar criticized the Government for its failure at every level and said, “State Government is claiming that it is in mission mode but if one visits Mantralaya, what one can find is the Government is in a suicide mode.”

Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant commenting on the incident said that Government is playing a game of ‘blue whale’ with the people.

Minister Vinod Tawde has appealed people to refrain from taking any extreme step since life is invaluable.

Tawde added, “Manytralaya belongs to people of Maharashtra and they are welcome here to sort out any grievances. At times it happens that problem is not sorted out immediately, however there is no point in resorting to extreme step.”
